Appellation

The Judean Wine Region is the first to be declared a recognized wine region (Appellation) in Israel. For the first time, wines that meet the regional criteria under appellation laws will be eligible for a regional “Judea” labelling.

Now declared a recognized wine region (Appellation), the “Judea” region will receive a unique seal for wines produced using grapes grown in its region, enabling wineries located and growing grapes in this area to receive the exclusive seal.
Viticulture areas within the Mate Yehuda council are among the highest quality in the State of Israel. In recent years, a trademark for the “Judea Wineries” region and winemakers has been approved by the Israeli Ministry of Justice, allowing winegrowers, wine producers, and the Regional Council of Mateh Yehuda to become pioneers in appellation marking.
The new trademark will be available for application to the label of any wine consisting of at least 85% grapes grown within the boundaries of this region, as marked on the map submitted as part of the approved application.
Located in the heart of the Mate Yehuda area opposite Kibbutz Tzora, the Teperberg Winery is situated in a region historically renowned for producing high-quality wine grapes, and we are proud to be part of the recognition and official designation of this region as a respected appellation.
Our 2022 Essence Pinot Gris was the winery’s first wine released with the Judea Appellation marking.
